CelebNPolitics247.com reports that John Wayne’s son is trying to defend his father’s racist beliefs from the 70s, and uphold John Wayne’s legacy at the OC Airport, which still the John Wayne Airport currently.

Film legend, John Wayne is known for his cowboy movies to all of his fans, but in his personal life he was very outspoken.

Now, John Wayne’s family is defending him amid calls for his name and a statue of him to be removed from the OC airport.

On Friday, the Democratic Party of Orange County passed a resolution calling for the actor’s name and likeness to be removed from the county’s John Wayne Airport.
They cited his “white supremacist, anti-LGBT and anti-indigenous views,” and called out a 1971 interview he did with Playboy.

Back in 1971, Wayne told the magazine:

I believe in white supremacy. I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people.” He used a homophobic slur and said he didn’t feel badly for land having been taken from Native Americans.

Clearly the comments were harsh and hi personal views at that time, but they’re racist. There is no other way to sugarcoat the truth.

However, Wayne’s family, Ethan Wayne is insisting that good ole dad was NOT racist.

Ethan Wayne released a statement to TMZ, in which he argued his father, who died in 1979 at the age of 72, was not a racist.

In fact, the younger Wayne said that if the Shootist star were alive, he would “be in the forefront demanding fairness and justice for all people. He would have pulled those officers off of George Floyd because that was the right thing to do.”

We understand Ethan’s argument, but John is NOT here to defend his comments, and in the eyes of the black, LGBTQ, and Native American communities, his comments were racist.

It’s a different time, people are hypersensitive, so it’s a dead-end fight for the Wayne family. John’s statue will eventually be removed, and history will be changed to suit the masses.

This is Ethan now:
